Prof. Ainsley LeSure announced as Richard and Edna Salomon Assistant Professor of Political Science

Providence, RI – Brown University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ainsley LeSure as the Richard and Edna Salomon Assistant Professor of Political Science, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. LeSure, currently an Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and Political Science, brings a distinguished academic background and a unique focus to both of the departments.

Dr. LeSure earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2015. Her scholarly work is deeply rooted in political theory, with a specialized interest in the critical theory of race and racism, phenomenology, democratic theory, and feminist theory.

Her impactful research has been published in the esteemed journal Political Theory. Dr. LeSure is also actively engaged in her current book project, Locating Racism in the World, which explores a phenomenological theory of antiblack racism as a "reality-violating racial common sense."

We look forward to Dr. LeSure's continued contributions to the Political Science and Africana Studies departments and the broader academic community in her new endowed professorship.
