Biography
Kristen Maye is an Assistant Professor of African American Literature in the Department of English at Mount Holyoke College. She completed her PhD in Africana Studies in 2023. As a scholar of Black studies, her work resides at the intersection of cultural studies, and literary and critical theory. Her research pursues questions of knowledge production, disciplinarity, and field formation, tracing how Black studies as a field of study exposes the limits and contradictions of disciplinary knowledge production. Maye graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Afro-American Studies and History.
