Biography

I’m Quinn and I’m originally from Jersey City, but I spent the last few years studying and working in Somerville. I completed my BAs in Political Science and Philosophy at Howard University and my MA in Philosophy from Tufts University with a focus on race, morality, and social and political philosophy. Having advocated for education justice for black students throughout my life, I supported the Tufts University Prison Initiative as the Assistant Director, organizing the Tufts BA inside a medium-security men’s prison and an undergraduate certificate in a robust reentry program for people coming home from prison. At Brown, I will be continuing my work in Black philosophy and exploring responsibility between agents in a racial caste society (primarily thinking about the rigid racial hierarchies within US) with a renewed focus on mass incarceration. Ultimately, I will be considering the ethics and principles necessary to create conditions to subvert the caste system.
